# Use CallForMe in OpenAI Codex

> Run codex mcp add callforme --url https://callforme.tel/mcp, then codex mcp login callforme. A browser tab opens and closes; no email or card. Codex can plan calls and look up businesses immediately, and gives you one setup link the first time it places a real call.

Codex CLI, the Codex IDE extension, and the Codex app share `~/.codex/config.toml`, so one setup covers all three.

## Install

### One command

```bash
codex mcp add callforme --url https://callforme.tel/mcp
```

Then sign in once:

```bash
codex mcp login callforme
```

Check it with `codex mcp list`.

### Or edit config.toml

Add this to `~/.codex/config.toml`:

```toml
[mcp_servers.callforme]
url = "https://callforme.tel/mcp"
```

Restart Codex after editing the file and run `codex mcp login callforme`. Inside a session, `/mcp` shows connected servers.

## Connecting your account

Run `codex mcp login callforme`. A browser tab opens and closes by itself. There's no email, no form and no card. That creates your CallForMe account.

## Your first call

The only other step comes once, the first time your agent places a real call. CallForMe answers with a short setup link like `https://callforme.tel/go/k7m2q`, and your agent shows it to you.

1. Open the link. It shows the exact call about to be placed: who, what number, and the goal.
2. Add $10. Your card is saved and auto-reloads, so you won't see this page again. Creators can claim credit with their email instead.
3. The page says you're done. Tell your agent to continue, and the phone starts ringing.

After that, every chat and every session just calls. If you later add CallForMe to a second agent, its first call link recognizes you (when you're signed in on that browser) and links it to your account in one click, with no second payment. More in [how setup links work](/docs/setup-links).

## If the Connect step doesn't show up

If your version of Codex can't do OAuth sign-in, use one of these instead:

- `https://callforme.tel/mcp/open` needs no sign-in. Your agent gets a setup link in each new session unless it saves the `account_key` it receives.
- A personal URL, `https://callforme.tel/mcp/k/<your key>`, or `bearer_token_env_var = "CALLFORME_KEY"` in the `[mcp_servers.callforme]` block with the key exported as `CALLFORME_KEY`, using a key you create on the [account page](https://callforme.tel/account).

## FAQ

### Does this work with Codex Cloud?

Cloud environments can add remote MCP servers in their settings. Use the same URL, and pass a key from the account page with the Bearer option if the environment can't do OAuth.

### Codex shows no CallForMe tools. What now?

Restart Codex after editing config.toml and run /mcp. Older Codex builds needed an experimental flag for HTTP MCP servers, so update Codex if tools still don't load.

### Can Codex use curl instead of MCP?

Yes. With shell access, Codex can follow https://callforme.tel/skill.md and call the REST API with curl. MCP is simpler if you can use it.
