# Use CallForMe in Gemini CLI

> Run gemini mcp add --transport http callforme https://callforme.tel/mcp, or add a callforme entry with httpUrl to ~/.gemini/settings.json. If prompted, run /mcp auth callforme; a tab opens and closes, no email or card. Gemini CLI can then plan calls and shows one setup link on the first call.

Gemini CLI supports remote MCP servers over streamable HTTP.

## Install

### One command

gemini mcp add --transport http callforme https://callforme.tel/mcp
```

Add `--scope user` to make it global. Check with `gemini mcp list`, or `/mcp` inside a session.

### Or edit settings.json

In `~/.gemini/settings.json`:

Note the field is `httpUrl` for streamable HTTP. Restart Gemini CLI after editing.

## Connecting your account

Start Gemini CLI. If it prompts you to sign in, run `/mcp auth callforme`. A browser tab opens and closes by itself. There's no email, no form and no card. That creates your CallForMe account.

## Your first call

The only other step comes once, the first time your agent places a real call. CallForMe answers with a short setup link like `https://callforme.tel/go/k7m2q`, and your agent shows it to you.

1. Open the link. It shows the exact call about to be placed: who, what number, and the goal.
2. Add $10. Your card is saved and auto-reloads, so you won't see this page again. Creators can claim credit with their email instead.
3. The page says you're done. Tell your agent to continue, and the phone starts ringing.

After that, every chat and every session just calls. If you later add CallForMe to a second agent, its first call link recognizes you (when you're signed in on that browser) and links it to your account in one click, with no second payment. More in [how setup links work](/docs/setup-links).

## If the Connect step doesn't show up

If your version of Gemini CLI can't do OAuth sign-in, use one of these instead:

- `https://callforme.tel/mcp/open` needs no sign-in. Your agent gets a setup link in each new session unless it saves the `account_key` it receives.
- A personal URL, `https://callforme.tel/mcp/k/<your key>`, or the header `Authorization: Bearer cfm_...` via `gemini mcp add ... --header`, using a key you create on the [account page](https://callforme.tel/account).

Gemini Code Assist agent mode in VS Code and JetBrains reads the same `~/.gemini/settings.json`, so the same entry covers it.

## FAQ

### Is this the same as Gemini's own Call for Me?

No. Google's Call for Me runs on Pixel phones from your own number. CallForMe works from Gemini CLI or any other agent. See the comparison page.

### Why httpUrl and not url?

In Gemini CLI settings, url is for the older SSE transport. httpUrl is for streamable HTTP, which CallForMe uses.

### Can Gemini CLI call several businesses at once?

Yes. It can start several place_call requests and poll each one.
