# Can an AI call a business in Spanish or another language?

> Yes. Every CallForMe call opens in English, and if the person who answers speaks Spanish, the assistant switches to Spanish for the rest of the call. For 15 other languages, including Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin and French, your agent sets the language before dialing. If a call fails because the business spoke one of those, CallForMe refunds it and calls back once in that language.

**Say to your agent:** "Call the Vietnamese nail salon on Main Street in Vietnamese and ask if they have an opening for a pedicure this Saturday afternoon."

## The short answer

Yes. A CallForMe call can speak Spanish with no setup, and 15 more languages when your agent asks for them. Your results always come back in English.

## Spanish switches live

Every call starts in English and also listens for Spanish. If the person who answers speaks Spanish, or asks for Spanish, the assistant switches for the rest of the call and repeats its opener in Spanish: it's an AI assistant calling for you, on a recorded line. You don't need to set anything.

## Other languages: tell your agent

For the languages below, your agent passes `language` when it places the call. The assistant opens in that language from the first word and still understands English if the business switches.

| Language | Example prompt |
|---|---|
| Vietnamese | "Call the pho place on Coit Road in Vietnamese and ask what time they close." |
| Korean | "Call the Korean market in Carrollton in Korean and ask if they have fresh perilla leaves." |
| Mandarin or Cantonese | "Call the dim sum restaurant in Cantonese and book a table for 6 on Sunday at 11." |
| French | "Call the bakery in Montreal in French and ask if they take orders for a birthday cake." |
| Portuguese, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Polish, Tagalog, Ukrainian | Same idea: name the language in your request. |

A good rule: if the business probably speaks another language first, like a Vietnamese nail salon or a Korean grocery, say the language in your request.

## The automatic callback

Sometimes your agent doesn't know the business's language. If a call fails because the person answered in one of the supported languages, CallForMe notices from the call itself (from what was said, or from clear clues like the business name). It then:

1. Refunds the failed call.
2. Calls the business back once, in that language.
3. Points the first call at the new one, so your agent's `get_call` follows it to the result.

In one test, a call to a Vietnamese restaurant didn't get through in English. The callback in Vietnamese came back with the closing time and the price we asked about, in English.

It only calls back once per request, and only for languages on the list above.

## When it can't help

If the person speaks a language that isn't supported, the assistant asks once, slowly, whether they speak English or Spanish. If not, it thanks them and hangs up. The outcome tells your agent what happened, so it can suggest another way to reach them.

## FAQ

### Which languages are supported?

English and Spanish on every call. Set up front: Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Polish, Tagalog and Ukrainian.

### Do I get the results in English?

Yes. The answers and the summary come back in English so you can read them, whatever language the call was in.

### What does the automatic callback cost?

The first call, the one that failed on language, is refunded. The callback is a normal call: $1 if answered, including 5 minutes. It happens once, never in a loop.

### Why not detect every language on every call?

Each extra language a call listens for makes the speech recognition a little less accurate. Two languages at a time keeps English and the other language sharp.
