# Can AI call around to every business near me?

> Yes. With CallForMe, your agent can call around for you: it finds 1 to 100 businesses of a kind near a place, calls them up to 10 at a time with the same request, and returns one table of answers. It can stop at the first place that says yes or at a spending limit. Each answered call costs $1.

**Say to your agent:** "Call the pharmacies near 75024 and ask what time the pharmacy counter closes tonight. Give me a table."

## The short answer

Yes. "Call around" is one request to your agent: "call the pharmacies near me and ask when they close", "get front brake prices from the mechanics near Plano", "call hair salons in Dallas until one has a Saturday 10am slot". CallForMe looks up the businesses, places the calls, and your agent hands you one table with every answer.

It works from any agent that has CallForMe connected: Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, or any other MCP client. The tool is called `call_around`.

## What you can ask for

- **Hours.** "Ask every pharmacy near 75024 what time the counter closes tonight."
- **Prices.** "Call 5 mechanics near Plano, TX and get a price for front pads and rotors on a 2019 RAV4." See [auto repair quotes](/use-cases/auto-repair-quotes).
- **Stock.** "Call the hardware stores near me and ask who has a 40 gallon gas water heater today." See [check product stock](/use-cases/check-product-stock).
- **The first opening.** "Call hair salons in Dallas until one can do a haircut Saturday at 10am, and book it." See [haircut booking](/use-cases/haircut-booking).
- **Prescriptions.** "Ask the pharmacies near me if they have my prescription in stock." See [pharmacy stock](/use-cases/pharmacy-prescription-stock).

## How it works

1. **Your agent describes the batch.** A kind of business (`query`, like "pharmacy"), a place (`near`, like "Plano, TX" or a zip code), how many (`count`, 1 to 100, default 3), and the same goal and questions it would give a single call.
2. **CallForMe finds the places.** It searches for businesses of that kind near the place, with a phone number, and leaves out places that are closed right now. It can widen the search with up to 5 phrasings and up to 10 areas.
3. **For more than 10 places, you see a preview.** Your agent shows you the list and the estimated cost, and only dials after you confirm.
4. **The server paces the calls.** It dials 5 at a time by default (up to 10) and starts the next one as each call ends. Your agent doesn't have to babysit every dial.
5. **Questions come back to your agent.** If a business asks something the request didn't cover, your agent sees it and answers while that business waits on the line. Answers you give ahead of time in `if_asked` mean dozens of calls don't each stop to ask.
6. **You get one table.** `get_batch` returns each business with its status, a summary, the price, the times, and the answers to your questions, plus the total spent.

## Stopping early

Two settings keep a big batch in check:

- `stop_after`: stop once this many calls succeed. `1` means "the first place that can do it". Good for finding an opening or an item in stock.
- `max_spend_usd`: stop dialing once the batch has cost this much.

Your agent can also stop a batch at any time with `stop_batch` once you have what you need. Calls already in progress finish unless it asks to hang them up too.

## Timing

CallForMe doesn't call businesses between 10pm and 7am in their local time. If you start a batch at night, places in quiet hours are called when they open at 7am instead of being skipped. Closed businesses are left out unless your agent passes `include_closed`, in which case they're called once they open or reach voicemail (free when no message is left).

## What it costs

Each call in a batch is priced like a single call: $1 per answered call, including the first 5 minutes, then $0.25 a minute. Calls nobody answers are free. A batch of 8 pharmacies where 6 answer in under 5 minutes costs $6.

If your balance runs out mid-batch and auto-reload is off, the batch pauses and your agent shows you a top-up link. It picks up where it left off once you add credit.

## Try it free first

The three fictional demo auto shops are a good rehearsal. Ask your agent: "Get front brake quotes from Oak Street Auto (469) 402-2653, Cedar Lane Tire & Brake (469) 437-9838 and Elm Avenue Garage (469) 300-6608, all at once, and give me a table." Demo calls cost nothing and need no account. See the [demo lines](https://callforme.tel/demo).

## FAQ

### How many places can it call at once?

One request covers 1 to 100 places. The server dials up to 10 at a time (5 by default) and starts the next call as each one ends.

### Can it stop when it finds what I need?

Yes. Set stop_after to 1 and it stops dialing once one call succeeds, like the first salon with a Saturday 10am opening. max_spend_usd stops it at a dollar limit.

### Will it call 50 places without asking me?

No. For more than 10 places your agent gets a preview first, with the list of businesses and the estimated cost, and has to confirm before anything dials.

### What does calling around cost?

The same as single calls: $1 per answered call including 5 minutes, then $0.25 a minute. Places that don't answer, are busy, or reach voicemail without a message cost nothing.

### Will it call the same place twice?

Not by default. Places your account called in the last 14 days are skipped, and asking for more places in the same batch never repeats one.
