# Check a Restaurant's Walk-In Wait Time With an AI Call

> Tell your agent the restaurant and party size. CallForMe calls, asks the host for the current walk-in wait, whether you can join the waitlist by phone, and when it tends to clear. The call is short, costs $1 if answered, and you decide whether to go before you leave the house.

**Say to your agent:** "Call Kenji Ramen and ask how long the walk-in wait is right now for 2. If they take names by phone, put us down as Rivera."

## What you say to your agent

> Call Kenji Ramen and ask how long the walk-in wait is right now for 2. If they take names by phone, put us down as Rivera.

No-reservation restaurants are great until you're standing outside for an hour. A 40 second call tells you whether to go now, later, or somewhere else.

## What your agent does

1. **find_business** finds Kenji Ramen, its phone, and whether it's open now.
2. **plan_call** keeps the opener short. Hosts are busy, so the checklist is two questions.
3. **place_call** dials:

```json
{
  "phone": "+12065550115",
  "business_name": "Kenji Ramen",
  "goal": "Find out the current walk-in wait for a party of 2, and join the waitlist by phone if they allow it.",
  "details": "Party of 2. Name for the list: Rivera. Can arrive in 20 minutes.",
  "questions": ["What is the wait for 2 right now?", "Can we join the waitlist by phone?"],
  "on_behalf_of": "Dani Rivera",
  "callback_number": "+12065550181",
  "constraints": "Keep it brief. Do not agree to a deposit."
}
```

4. **get_call** usually returns `ended` within one poll.

## Example result

Example transcript excerpt:

> **Voice agent:** Hi, I'm an automated assistant calling on behalf of Dani Rivera. How long is the walk-in wait for 2 right now?
> **Host:** About 45 minutes.
> **Voice agent:** Can they join the waitlist by phone? The name is Rivera, and they can be there in 20 minutes.
> **Host:** Yeah, I'll put Rivera down. We'll text when it's close. What's the number?
> **Voice agent:** 206-555-0181.

| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Wait for 2 | About 45 minutes |
| Phone waitlist | Yes, added as Rivera |
| Notification | Text to 206-555-0181 |

## Tips

- Put the number you want texts sent to in `details` or `callback_number`. The call itself comes from +1 (469) 966-0062, so the host can't text you back on it.
- Ask for a wait estimate for your exact party size. A 2-top and a 6-top can be very different.
- Want options? Ask your agent to check three places and pick the shortest wait.
- Avoid calling right at peak. Hosts juggling a full door are the least likely to stay on the line.

## What it costs

$1 per answered call. Checking three places is $3, and any that don't pick up are free.

## FAQ

### Won't a busy host hang up?

Some might. The voice agent keeps it to one or two quick questions and says who it's calling for up front. Calling a few minutes before the rush peaks helps.

### Can it check several places at once?

Yes. Your agent can call three nearby spots in parallel and tell you which has the shortest wait.

### What if they don't take names by phone?

The voice agent records that, and your agent tells you. Nothing else happens.
