Have AI call your public library
Tell your agent what you need from the library. CallForMe calls the branch and asks whether a book is on the shelf, how to book a study or meeting room, or whether they take passport applications, proctor exams or offer a notary, plus hours. It can call several branches to find the one that can help today. Each answered call costs $1.
Libraries do far more than lend books, and the services differ branch to branch. One proctors exams, one has a notary on Tuesdays, one does passports by appointment. A few quick calls find the right one.

Other library calls:
- "Call the central library and ask if The Women by Kristin Hannah is on the shelf right now."
- "Ask the library branches near me which one has a study room I can book for 3 hours Saturday."
- "Call the library and ask if they proctor a paper exam for a community college course, and the fee."
What the library will ask
plan_call has no library category, so for most library calls it flags only a missing name. If you ask to book an appointment, like a passport slot, it adds the date and time with a range and a callback number. Library staff may ask:
- Your library card number, for holds and room bookings.
- For passports: how many applicants, adults or minors, new or renewal.
- For proctoring: the exam format and the school's instructions.
Questions worth asking
- Is this book or DVD on the shelf at this branch right now?
- How do I book a meeting or study room, and is there a time limit?
- Passport acceptance: appointment needed, photos on site, fees, payment types.
- Notary or proctoring: which days, fee, reservation needed.
- Branch hours today.
How call_around works for libraries
query: "public library" near your zip with count: 4. Each branch has its own number, but many libraries route calls through one central line. If several results share a number, your agent should call it once. Ask the specific service in the goal so each branch answers the same question. For a single book, call your home branch with place_call instead.
What trips these calls up
- Central phone lines. Many library systems answer every branch's number at one desk, which may need to check with the branch.
- Card details. Account actions need your card number and PIN; do those yourself in the library's app.
- Short hours. Smaller branches may open at noon or close early some days. Calls before opening reach a recording.
What it costs
$1 per branch that answers, including 5 minutes. Library calls are short. Four branches: $4.

Questions
Do libraries handle passports?
Many public libraries are passport acceptance facilities, usually by appointment. Branches differ, so asking a few at once finds the soonest slot.
Can it put a book on hold?
Holds usually need your library card number and PIN. The assistant won't say a PIN, so it asks whether the book is on the shelf and staff can tell you how to place the hold yourself.
Will librarians answer an AI call?
Yes. Library staff answer questions from anyone, and routine questions about hours, rooms and services are a normal part of their day.
What about exam proctoring?
Some branches proctor online and paper exams for distance learners, often with a fee and a reservation. Ask whether they support your exam's format.
