AgentPhone vs CallForMe: own number, or calls done for you
Short answer: AgentPhone (agentphone.ai, Relay Innovations) gives your MCP agent its own number for texts, inbound and outbound calls, from $0.13 to $0.22 a minute plus $3 a month per number, after sign-up. CallForMe (callforme.tel, Great Work LLC) only makes calls to businesses for you: no number to buy, $1 per answered call, free when nobody answers.

What AgentPhone is
AgentPhone, at agentphone.ai, is made by Relay Innovations, Inc. and backed by Y Combinator. It gives an AI agent its own phone number. Through its MCP server (github.com/AgentPhone-AI/agentphone-mcp, 32 tools) an agent buys US and Canadian numbers, sends and receives SMS and iMessage, takes inbound calls by webhook, and places outbound calls with a built-in AI voice or your own webhook. You create "agents" with their own voice, system prompt, transfer and voicemail settings.
It's a building block for products that need a phone line: a support line, a scheduling assistant, an agent people can text.

When to pick AgentPhone
- Your agent needs its own number that people can call or text.
- You're building a product with a phone line, and you'll write the prompts and handle webhooks.
- Most of your calls are long, so the per-minute price matters more than the setup.
When to pick CallForMe
- You want errands done by phone (a quote, a booking, a cancellation, "is my car ready?") without setting up a number, a voice or a prompt.
- The business has a phone menu or a hold queue. See phone menus and hold.
- You want the same questions asked of many places in one request. See call around.
- You'd rather pay nothing for calls nobody answers, and nothing per month.

Questions
Which is cheaper?
Per minute, AgentPhone: $0.22 a minute with its hosted AI agent ($0.13 with your own webhook), billed per second, plus $3 a month for each number. A 2-minute call is about 44¢ there and $1 at CallForMe. CallForMe charges nothing when nobody answers or the line is busy, and has no monthly fee. Prices checked October 31, 2026.
Can either one send texts or answer calls to my number?
AgentPhone can: SMS, iMessage and inbound calls to numbers you buy. CallForMe only places calls to businesses. It calls from its own number, (469) 966-0062, which takes messages from businesses that call back and passes them to you.
Do both handle phone menus and hold?
CallForMe's assistant presses menu keys, says words to voice menus and waits on hold, and can patch you in when a person answers. AgentPhone's site doesn't describe phone-menu or hold handling, as of October 31, 2026.
How do I connect each one?
AgentPhone: sign up at agentphone.ai, then use an API key or its OAuth sign-in with https://mcp.agentphone.ai/mcp, or run its npm package. CallForMe: add https://callforme.tel/mcp and click Connect; nothing to fill in. A one-time $5 setup link comes with your first real call.
