Use CallForMe in Grok
Short answer: On grok.com, open Connectors, click New Connector, choose Custom and paste https://callforme.tel/mcp. Finish the sign-in tab that opens; it asks for no email or card. Grok can then plan calls and look up businesses, and the first real call returns one setup link to add $10. In the xAI API, pass CallForMe as an mcp tool with your key.
Grok can find the right business. With CallForMe connected, it can also call them and tell you what they said.
Install in Grok (grok.com)
- Go to grok.com/connectors.
- Click New Connector, then choose Custom.
- Paste the server URL:
https://callforme.tel/mcp - Finish the sign-in step. A tab opens and closes by itself: no email, no form, no card. That creates your CallForMe account.
Grok then lists the CallForMe tools (find_business, plan_call, place_call, get_call and the rest) in your next chat. Steps are from xAI's connector docs, checked October 30, 2026.
On a Business or Enterprise workspace, ask your admin to provision the connector first.
If Grok doesn't show a sign-in step
Use a URL that needs no sign-in instead:
- A personal URL,
https://callforme.tel/mcp/k/<your key>, using a key you create on the account page. https://callforme.tel/mcp/open, which needs nothing. Grok gets a setup link in each new chat unless it keeps theaccount_keyit receives.
Use it from the xAI API
The xAI Responses API runs remote MCP servers as a tool of type mcp (xAI remote MCP docs):
import os
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(api_key=os.getenv("XAI_API_KEY"), base_url="https://api.x.ai/v1")
response = client.responses.create(
model="grok-4.7",
input=[{"role": "user", "content": "Call Maple Street Pizza at (469) 770-7412 and ask what time they close tonight."}],
tools=[{
"type": "mcp",
"server_url": "https://callforme.tel/mcp",
"server_label": "callforme",
"authorization": os.getenv("CALLFORME_KEY"),
"allowed_tools": ["find_business", "plan_call", "place_call", "get_call", "answer_question"],
}],
)
print(response.output_text)
CALLFORME_KEY is a cfm_... key from the account page. The API has no approval prompts, so allowed_tools is how you keep an app to the tools you want. A call can take a few minutes: get_call with wait_seconds waits for the result. For a call your code follows step by step, the REST API may fit better.
Your first real call in Grok
The first time Grok places a real call, CallForMe sends back a one-time setup link and Grok shows it to you. Open it, check the call it describes, and add $10. Auto-reload keeps the balance topped up, so you do this once. Details in how setup links work.
Try it in Grok
Start with a free demo call. Paste this into Grok:
Call Maple Street Pizza at (469) 770-7412 and book a table for 2 tonight at 7 under Alex. Ask for the confirmation number, then tell me how it went.
Demo lines are fictional and free. Then swap in a business you use ($1 if answered, nothing if not):
Find three auto shops near me open Saturday, call each one and ask the price of a front brake pad replacement on a 2018 Honda Civic. Put the answers in a table.
Questions
Which Grok plans can add a custom connector?
xAI's connector docs say connectors are available to all Grok users, as of October 30, 2026. On Business and Enterprise workspaces a team admin has to provision a connector before members can use it.
Can I use CallForMe from the xAI API?
Yes. The Responses API takes a tool of type mcp with server_url https://callforme.tel/mcp and your CallForMe key as authorization. The API doesn't support approval prompts, so limit allowed_tools if your app shouldn't place calls without a person checking.
Does Grok call the business itself?
No. Grok decides who to call and what to ask; CallForMe places the call with its own voice assistant, works the phone menu, waits on hold and sends the answers back to Grok.
