Have AI call electricians for you
Short answer: Describe the job, your panel size if you know it, and your zip. CallForMe calls electricians near you and asks each for the trip fee, a price range, whether the permit and inspection are included, and the earliest visit. Each answered call costs $1, and electricians who don't pick up cost nothing.
Electrical quotes swing on details the homeowner rarely thinks to mention: the panel's amperage, how far the new circuit runs, whether walls need opening. Give your agent those details once and every electrician gets the same job description, so the prices are comparable.
Paste this into your agent
Call 4 electricians near 75024 for a quote to install a 240V Level 2 EV charger in an attached garage, about 30 feet from a 200 amp panel. I have the charger. Ask the price range, if the permit is included, and the first available date.
Other electrical calls:
- "Ask 3 electricians near 98103 for a ballpark to upgrade a 100 amp panel to 200 amps in a 1960s house. Does the price include the utility disconnect and the permit?"
- "Call electricians about adding 4 recessed lights in a living room with attic access above. Price per light and trip fee."
- "Find an electrician who can replace 2 outlets that stopped working, earliest this week, and tell me their service call fee."
What the electrician will ask
"Electrician" and "electrical" put the call in the trades category in plan_call, which flags the service address or zip and the date and time you're available, plus the tip that trades rarely commit to a firm price unseen.
Three wording traps worth knowing:
- If the goal never says "electrician" or "electrical", as in "how much to install a Level 2 EV charger", plan_call treats it as a generic price question and doesn't flag your address. Name the trade.
- "Install a car charger" with a price word reads as a vehicle quote and asks for the car's year, make and model. Say "EV charger" and name the electrician.
- plan_call's time check looks for things like "9am" in your text, and "200 amps" matches it. Your agent may not be warned that you left out your availability, so add the days you're home yourself.
Other things electricians ask:
- Panel amperage and brand, and is there space for a new breaker?
- How far is the new outlet or charger from the panel?
- Finished walls, attic, or crawl space for running wire?
- Age of the house. Older wiring can change the job.
Questions worth asking
- Trip or service call fee, and is it applied to the job?
- Price range for this job, and what would push it up?
- Is the permit included, and do they schedule the inspection?
- License number, and are they insured?
- Earliest date, and how long the job takes.
- Warranty on the work.
How call_around works for electricians
query: "electrician" near your zip with count: 4 and no stop_after gets four quotes on the same description. For a small repair where speed matters more than price, use stop_after: 1 and say in the goal "book the first one who can come by Thursday." Put the panel size, distance and photos-available note in details so no call stops to ask.
What trips these calls up
- "We need to see it." The normal answer for panel work. The useful result is the trip fee, the range they'd expect, and the first visit.
- Utility coordination. Panel upgrades often need the power company to disconnect and reconnect service. Some electricians handle it, some leave it to you. Ask.
- Rebates and incentives. Electricians sometimes mention utility or state rebates for EV chargers or panel upgrades. The assistant records what they say; check the terms yourself.
What it costs
$1 per electrician that answers, including 5 minutes. Four answer, one call runs 6 minutes 30 seconds while the electrician asks about the panel: that's 2 extra minutes, so $4.50 total.

Questions
Will an electrician quote an EV charger by phone?
Often a range, if you give the panel size, the distance from the panel to the charger, and whether the garage is attached. A firm price usually comes after someone looks at the panel.
What's the difference between a permit being included or not?
Panel upgrades and new 240V circuits usually need a permit and an inspection. Some quotes include the permit fee and scheduling the inspection; others add it later. Ask so you're comparing the same job.
Can it check that the electrician is licensed?
It can ask for the license number and record it. Look it up yourself on your state's licensing board site before you book, since the assistant can't verify it.
Can it handle a power outage or a burning smell?
No. Anything that smells hot, sparks or shocks is an emergency. Turn off the breaker and call an electrician or 911 yourself. CallForMe doesn't make emergency calls.
