Have AI call insurance agents for you
Short answer: Tell your agent what you want quoted (home, renters, a home and auto bundle), your zip, and your current coverage. CallForMe calls local agents, asks which companies they write for, what they need to quote, and when they can call you. It collects answers and appointments; you choose. Each answered call costs $1.
Shopping for home or renters insurance through local agents starts with a lot of short calls: do you write policies in my area, which companies do you quote, what do you need from me, when can you call back. Your agent can make those first calls to several offices at once and hand you a list of who's worth a real conversation.
For car insurance, see get auto insurance quotes from local agents, which walks through that one job end to end.
Paste this into your agent
Call 3 independent insurance agents near 80205. I want a homeowners quote for a 1,900 sq ft house built in 1998, currently $400,000 dwelling coverage with a $1,000 deductible. Ask which companies they quote, what they need from me, and when they can call me back with numbers.
Other insurance agent calls:
- "Ask 3 agents near 60614 to quote renters insurance with $30,000 personal property coverage for an apartment, and what they need to quote it."
- "Call local agents and ask whether they'd quote bundling home and auto for a house in 97214 and two cars, and the earliest time for a quote call."
- "Ask an agent's office whether they write umbrella policies and what underlying coverage they require."
What the agent's office will ask
Anything that says "insurance" puts the call in the insurance category in plan_call. It flags the name to give, an account, member or policy number and date of birth, and adds a tip to set transfer_to because insurers verify the account holder. With a price word like "quote", the generic quote category fires too.
For a new quote, the policy number flag is noise: you don't have a policy with this office yet. Say so in details ("no current policy with this agency; current carrier policy available if needed") so a question about it doesn't come back mid-call. The date of birth is real: agents often ask for it to run a quote. Decide whether you want it shared, and put it in details or leave it for the callback. The transfer_to tip is for calling a carrier about your existing policy; for shopping, a callback works better.
Other things agents ask:
- The property address, year built, square footage, roof age.
- Your current company, coverage limits and deductible.
- Claims in the last few years.
- For bundles: the cars and drivers.
Questions worth asking
- Which insurance companies do you quote in my area?
- What do you need from me to quote it?
- Can you quote the same coverage I have now, so I can compare?
- How soon can you call or email me with numbers?
- Is there a fee for your service?
- The agent's name and license number.
Independent vs captive agents
The NAIC's guide to choosing an agent defines the two kinds: "An independent agent may sell policies from many different companies. A captive agent sells insurance for only one company." Calling a mix of both gets you more quotes from one round of calls. The same guide points you to the NAIC's Consumer Information Source or your state insurance department to check licensing before you buy; the assistant can record a license number but can't verify it.
How call_around works for insurance agents
query: "independent insurance agent" near your zip with count: 3 and no stop_after asks each office the same questions. Put the property details and current coverage in details. If you want callbacks, set callback_number and say in the goal when you're free. call_around skips offices that are closed right now and never dials before 7am local time, so run it during business hours.
What trips these calls up
- "The agent will need to talk to you." Normal. The useful result is who's interested, which companies they quote, and when they'll call.
- Out-of-area offices. Some agents aren't licensed or appointed in your state. Ask whether they write policies where the property is.
- Comparing different coverage. A lower quote with a higher deductible isn't cheaper. Ask every agent to match your current limits and deductible.
What it costs
$1 per office that answers, including the first 2 minutes. Three offices: two calls under 2 minutes and one that runs 5 minutes while the agent asks about the house, billed $1 + 3 x $0.40 = $2.20. Total $4.20. An office that doesn't pick up costs nothing.

Questions
Will an agent quote over this call?
Rarely on the first call. A home or renters quote needs details about the property and you, and the agent usually wants to talk to you directly. The first call finds out who writes in your area, what they need, and books the follow-up.
What's the difference between an independent and a captive agent?
The NAIC puts it simply: an independent agent may sell policies from many companies, and a captive agent sells for only one. Calling both kinds gets you a wider spread of quotes.
Does it share my personal details?
Only what you put in details. Leave out your Social Security number and anything you wouldn't say to a receptionist. An agent who needs more for a quote can get it from you on their callback.
Can it tell me which policy to buy?
No. It collects the agents' answers and the companies they offer, side by side. Choosing coverage is your call, with the agent you pick.
