Have AI call to cancel a flight within 24 hours (or an award ticket)

Short answer: Give your agent the confirmation code, the passenger's name, and when you booked. CallForMe calls the airline or its loyalty line, waits on hold, cancels within the 24-hour window, and asks how the refund or the miles come back and when. Airlines often text a code to the account holder first, so pass your phone as transfer_to and the assistant connects you to read it.

“Call the airline and cancel booking KQ7PLM for Jordan Lee, booked today. Confirm it's inside the 24-hour window, get the refund amount and how the miles come back, and a cancellation number. If they send a code, connect me at (214) 555-0100.”

Booked the wrong date, or found a better fare an hour later? You often have 24 hours to undo it. The website doesn't always offer the button, and for award tickets the miles part usually needs a person. Your agent can make the call.

What your agent does

  1. plan_call flags what the airline will ask for: the confirmation code, the passenger's name, and the account number for an award booking.
  2. place_call calls the airline or the loyalty program's service line, with transfer_to set so you can read a verification code if they send one:
What your agent sends (for developers)
{
  "phone": "+18005550147",
  "business_name": "Airline loyalty service",
  "goal": "Cancel award booking KQ7PLM within the 24-hour window. Confirm the refund of taxes and the redeposit of miles, with no fee, and get a cancellation number. If they send a verification code to the account holder, connect them.",
  "on_behalf_of": "Sam Ortiz, for passenger Jordan Lee",
  "details": "Booking KQ7PLM, booked today at 2pm. Passenger Jordan Lee. Loyalty account on file under Sam Ortiz.",
  "questions": ["Is this inside the 24-hour window?", "How much is refunded, to what, and when?", "When do the miles come back?", "What is the cancellation number?"],
  "constraints": "Don't accept a credit or voucher instead of the refund. Don't change the booking; cancel it.",
  "transfer_to": "+12145550100"
}
  1. get_call follows it. When the airline asks for the texted code, your phone rings and you read it yourself. The assistant hands off, and the airline finishes the cancellation with you.

Question Answer
Inside the window? Yes, booked 3 hours ago
Refund $286.40 in taxes to the original card in 2 to 4 weeks
Miles 62,500 back on the account right away, no fee
Cancellation number Given to you after the code check

Tips

  • Call early. The window is 24 hours from booking, and hold times eat into it.
  • Have the account holder reachable. Award bookings almost always need the account holder to verify.
  • Say "full refund to the original payment" in constraints, so a voucher offer comes back to you instead of being accepted.
  • Booked through a travel agency? The 24-hour rule applies to airlines, not agencies: call the agency.

What it costs

$1 per answered call, including the first 2 minutes, then 40 cents a minute, up to 30 minutes. Airline holds run long, so most of these calls are $3 to $6. Calls nobody answers are free.

Questions

What is the 24-hour rule?

For flights to, from or within the US booked at least seven days before departure, US Department of Transportation rules require airlines to either hold the fare for 24 hours without payment or let you cancel within 24 hours for a full refund to your original payment. The airline picks which, and some airlines are more generous.

Does it work for award tickets booked with miles?

Loyalty programs set their own rules for miles. Many put the miles back and refund taxes when you cancel quickly, but fees and timing vary. The assistant asks exactly what comes back and when.

Why does it need me on the line?

Loyalty and airline accounts often verify the account holder with a one-time code texted to them. The assistant never reads codes; with transfer_to it connects you to read it. See [verification codes](/guides/verification-codes-on-ai-calls).

What does it cost?

$1 per answered call, including the first 2 minutes, then 40 cents a minute. Airline holds are long, so plan on $3 to $6. Calls nobody answers are free.
