Have AI call your cell phone carrier

Short answer: Tell your agent the carrier, the account number, the phone number on the account and what you want: a lower bill, a fee removed, a phone unlocked, a travel plan or a line cancelled. CallForMe works the menu and waits on hold. Carriers verify the account holder, so pass your number as transfer_to and you're connected when they check it's you. $1 per answered call, then $0.40 a minute.

“Call my wireless carrier and ask them to lower my bill: I pay $140 a month for 2 unlimited lines, account 4471-9920, number on the account (214) 555-0100. Ask about current promotions and what a cheaper plan would cost, and don't accept anything without asking me. If they need to verify me, connect me at (214) 555-0100.”

Calls to a phone carrier mean a menu that wants your number first, a hold, and a retention pitch if you ask about price. Your agent can handle the menu and the wait, ask the questions, and bring you in only when the carrier needs to check it's you.

Paste this into your agent

Call my wireless carrier and ask them to lower my bill: I pay $140 a month for 2 unlimited lines, account 4471-9920, number on the account (214) 555-0100. Ask about current promotions and what a cheaper plan would cost, and don't accept anything without asking me. If they need to verify me, connect me at (214) 555-0100.

Other carrier calls:

  • "Call my carrier and ask them to remove the $35 upgrade fee from my last bill, account 4471-9920. I was told in the store it would be waived."
  • "Ask my carrier whether my iPhone on account 4471-9920 can be unlocked, what's left to pay on it, and how long it takes. Connect me at (214) 555-0100 if they need to verify me."
  • "I'm in Mexico from November 20 to 27. Ask my carrier what their international plan costs for that week and whether calls and data are included. Don't add anything yet."

What the carrier will ask

Carrier calls are account-holder calls in plan_call, so it suggests transfer_to. A bill goal also flags the account number and the lowest price you'd accept (put that in constraints). Have these ready:

  • The account number and the name on the account.
  • The phone number on the account.
  • What you pay now and the plan you have.
  • Your number, as transfer_to.

Leave the account PIN, passwords and the last four of your Social Security number out of the request: the assistant never reads them out, and that's what transfer_to is for.

Questions worth asking

  • For the bill: current promotions for existing customers, a cheaper plan that keeps what you use, and when any new price ends.
  • For a fee: whether they'll remove it as a one-time courtesy.
  • For unlocking: eligibility, the balance left on the phone, and the timeline.
  • For travel: the daily or weekly price, what's included, and how to turn it off.
  • Always: the agent's name and a reference number.

How long the big lines took

When we timed customer service lines on Monday, November 2, 2026, our call reached a person at T-Mobile in 1 minute 24 seconds, menu and hold included. AT&T wanted the phone number on an account before it would route the call, and Verizon's AI assistant said no representatives were available. One call each, so it's a snapshot: see customer service hold times, measured.

What it costs

$1 per answered call, including the first 2 minutes, then $0.40 a minute, up to 30 minutes. A 10-minute call with a hold is $1 + 8 × $0.40 = $4.20. A call nobody answers costs nothing.

Questions

Will the carrier talk to an assistant?

For general questions (plan prices, promotions, travel options), often. For anything on your account, carriers verify the account holder, usually with a PIN, a security question or a code texted to the phone on the account. With transfer_to, the assistant waits through the menu and the hold and connects you for that part.

Can it get my phone unlocked?

It can ask whether the phone is eligible for unlocking, what's still owed on it, and how long unlocking takes, and request it if you've said so. The carrier will usually verify you first, so pass transfer_to.

Will it give my account PIN?

No. CallForMe never reads PINs, passwords, codes or Social Security numbers aloud. When the carrier asks for one, the assistant connects you to give it yourself.

How long are the holds?

When we timed the big carriers on November 2, 2026, T-Mobile put us through to a person in 1 minute 24 seconds; AT&T and Verizon didn't put us through at all. Set max_cost_usd to cap a call, and calls end on their own at 30 minutes ($12.20).
