Ask the body shop or mechanic if your car is ready
Short answer: Give your agent the shop, the last digits of the VIN (or the claim or repair-order number) and the phone number on the order. CallForMe calls, asks whether the car is ready, what's still holding it up and whether anything is due at pickup, and reports back. Most of these calls cost $1.

$1 when someone answers, first 2 minutes included. Nothing if nobody picks up. Connecting asks for nothing.
"It should be done by the end of the week" turns into a week of wondering. A two-minute call gets you the real status, and your agent can make it while you work.
What your agent does
- find_business confirms the shop's number and whether it's open now.
- plan_call checks what the shop will look the car up by (the VIN's last digits, a claim or repair-order number, the phone on the order) and tells you what's missing.
- place_call dials, asks for the service writer or front desk, and asks your questions:

Example result
Illustrative example: the shop, names and dates are made up. Transcript excerpt:
Voice agent: Hi, this is an assistant calling for Morgan Lee, on a recorded line. I'm checking whether Morgan's silver Camry is ready. The VIN ends in 4, 8, 2, 1, 3. Service writer: One second. It's in paint now, waiting on one more panel. We're looking at Thursday afternoon. Voice agent: Thanks. Is anything due at pickup? Service writer: Just the $500 deductible.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Ready? | No, in paint, waiting on one panel |
| Expected | Thursday afternoon |
| Due at pickup | $500 deductible |
Your agent's summary: "Not ready yet. Expected Thursday afternoon; bring the $500 deductible."
Tips
- The last 5 to 8 digits of the VIN are usually enough. They're on your insurance card or the repair estimate.
- Pass
callback_number: if the shop says they'll call when it's done, the assistant gives them your number. - Calling a dealership's service line? The same call works; for plates or registration, see ask the dealership about plates.
What it costs
Usually $1: most status checks finish inside the first 2 minutes. A long hold runs $0.40 a minute after that; pass max_cost_usd to cap it. No answer is free.

Questions
What will the shop ask for?
Usually the last few digits of the VIN, the claim or repair-order number, or the phone number and last name on the order. Put whichever you have in details; if they ask for something else, the question comes to your agent while they wait.
Can it ask about the insurance side?
Yes. Ask whether they're waiting on an adjuster, a supplement approval or parts. For the insurer's side of a claim, see checking a claim status.
Can it pay the balance or authorize more work?
No. The assistant never gives card numbers and won't approve extra repairs unless your goal says so. It can ask what's due and what any extra work would cost.
