Get junk removal quotes from several haulers at once
Short answer: List what's going and where it sits (garage, third floor, curb), then ask your agent to call junk haulers near you. CallForMe asks each one for a price range, whether labor and disposal are included, items they won't take, and the soonest pickup. You get one table to compare. Haulers usually firm up the price on site. Each answered call is $1.

Clearing out a garage, a move-out, or an estate means calling junk haulers, describing the same pile five times, and getting five answers in five different shapes. Your agent can describe it once and ask every hauler the same questions, so the answers line up.

How haulers price, and what that means for the call
A common pricing model: one item by its size, a bigger load by how much of the truck it fills. For example, 1-800-GOT-JUNK's pricing page describes single-item prices, then volume pricing from a fraction of a truck up to a full load, with the exact price given on site after the crew sees the items (pricing page, checked October 9, 2026). So a phone quote is a range. You get a tighter one by being specific:
- Each item by name, with sizes for the big ones (sleeper sofa, not "couch").
- Where it sits: ground-floor garage, basement, third floor with no elevator.
- What it's made of when it matters: a hot tub, a piano, concrete, or yard waste.

Questions worth asking
- What price range for this list, and what makes it go up on site?
- Does the price include loading, labor and dump fees?
- Is there a minimum charge?
- Any extra fees for mattresses, tires, appliances with refrigerant, or electronics?
- Do you donate or recycle usable items?
- What's the arrival window, and do they call ahead?
Example result
Illustrative example: names, prices and times are made up.
| Hauler | Range | Included | Won't take | Soonest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crabtree Haul-Away | $280 to $360 | Labor, disposal | Paint | Thu 8 to 10 am |
| Triangle Junk Co | $240 to $320 + $25 mattress | Labor, disposal | Paint, propane | Wed 1 to 3 pm |
| Glenwood Clean-Outs | $350 flat for a quarter truck | Everything | Nothing on this list | Fri morning |
| Six Forks Hauling | "Need to see it" | n/a | n/a | Estimate visit Wed |
One hauler didn't answer, which cost nothing. Your agent's summary: "Triangle is lowest even with the mattress fee, and they can come Wednesday afternoon. Glenwood's flat $350 is the safest if you think the pile is bigger than it looks."
What trips these calls up
- "I'd have to see it." Some haulers won't give any range by phone. Your agent marks those and moves on, or asks when they can come look.
- Hazardous items. Paint, cleaners, oils, batteries and pesticides can contain hazardous ingredients and need special care at disposal, per the EPA. Expect haulers to leave them, and check your county's collection days.
- Mattress fees. In states with a mattress recycling program (California, Connecticut, Oregon and Rhode Island, per the Mattress Recycling Council), ask how the hauler handles them.
What it costs
Five haulers, four answer, three in under 2 minutes and one at 3 minutes: $1 + $1 + $1 + $1.40 = $4.40. Unanswered calls are free.

Questions
Will a junk hauler give a price over the phone?
Often a range, then an exact price on site. One national chain's pricing page, for example, prices single items by size and larger loads by how much of the truck they fill, with the exact price given when the crew sees the items. A clear list gets you a tighter range.
What won't they take?
Ask each one. Paint, solvents, pesticides, batteries and similar household hazardous waste need special handling, per the EPA, and often go to a local collection program instead.
Is a mattress extra?
It can be. California, Connecticut, Oregon and Rhode Island have statewide mattress recycling programs run by the Mattress Recycling Council. Ask whether the hauler adds a mattress fee and where it goes.
Can the assistant book the pickup?
Yes. Once you pick from the table, your agent calls back to book the window, with your address and a callback number in details.
