Make phone calls for an aging parent with your AI agent
Short answer: Tell your agent the errand, whose behalf it's on, and what the business will ask for (date of birth, prescription, account number). CallForMe makes the call and reports back with the answers and a transcript. When an office needs your parent directly, pass their number as transfer_to and they're connected once a person answers.

Helping a parent often means a stream of small calls: is the refill ready, can the appointment move to Thursday, which Medicare plan covers her doctor, why the cable bill went up. Each one is a phone menu and a hold. Your AI agent can make those calls and hand you the answers.
The short answer
Give your agent the errand, whose behalf it's on, and what the business will ask for. CallForMe makes the call and reports back. When a call needs your parent's own voice, it waits on hold and patches them in once a person answers.
Calls that fit
- Pharmacy: is the refill ready, what it costs, whether they have it in stock. See prescription stock checks.
- Appointments: book, move or cancel, and ask what to bring. See doctor appointments and rescheduling.
- Medicare and insurance questions: compare plans with licensed brokers during open enrollment (October 15 to December 7 for Medicare), ask which plans cover their doctors. See open enrollment quotes.
- Bills and services: ask why a bill changed, ask for a lower rate, cancel something unused. See lowering an internet bill and cancelling by phone.
- Everyday errands: holiday hours, whether a store has something, a ride or delivery question.
What to give your agent
The more of what the business will ask for that you include, the fewer questions come back mid-call:
- Your parent's full name and date of birth (most medical and pharmacy calls start here)
- The prescription name, account number or policy number
- The phone number on the account
- Their number as
transfer_to, if the office may need to talk to them - Anything they must not agree to ("don't change the plan, just ask")
If the business asks for something you didn't include, the question comes to your agent while they wait, and your answer goes straight into the call. See when the business asks something.
Calls that need your parent
Banks, insurers and many medical offices verify the account holder before they discuss details. For those, set transfer_to to your parent's phone. The assistant does the menu and the hold, then connects them once a person picks up, so they skip straight to the part that needs them. See hold and patch-in.
Never use it to make a call your parent wouldn't want made, and keep card numbers and Social Security numbers out of the request. The assistant won't read them out.
What it costs
$1 per answered call, including the first 2 minutes, then 40 cents a minute. A quick refill check is usually $1. Calls nobody answers are free. Try it first with a free demo line.

Questions
Can it call on my parent's behalf?
Yes, for routine business calls. The assistant says who it's calling for, on a recorded line, and says it's an AI whenever asked. It never pretends to be your parent. Some offices will only discuss certain things with the account holder or with written permission on file, so plan to patch your parent in for those.
What about doctors' offices and privacy rules?
Scheduling, office hours and whether a refill is ready are usually fine. For medical details, many offices need the patient on the line or a signed authorization naming you. Use transfer_to so your parent is connected once someone answers, or ask the office what form they need.
Can my parent use it directly?
If they use Claude, ChatGPT or another agent, yes. They type what they need and read the answer, with no phone menus and no hold music. Calls nobody answers are free.
What does it cost?
$1 per answered call, including the first 2 minutes, then 40 cents a minute. Hold time counts, so a long pharmacy or insurance hold costs more. Unanswered and busy calls are free.
